Name: Al'Zarigus Idea for entry: "Wintersday greetings from Cantha"! Most likely Shiro and Vizu sitting in a sleigh mobilized by Kuunavang and dropping presents to Krytans. Genre of art: Traditional pencil art.
I was being facetious but now I think about it, it does not seem trivial. Perhaps it would be worth checking the process on a short snippet of something you know well already before you put a lot of effort into adapting the music and learningthe piece on different instruments?
Thanks for the concern. I went and researched exactly what I need to make this happen, and it seems doable even for newbies. I made some short test recording, and the recording quality seems reasonable. It won't be a once in a lifetime quality, but I think it would be good enough.
The learning bit shouldn't be too bad, at least with flute and singing. My primary concern in terms of music is accompany arrangement and being rusty. I haven't touched the instruments in a good while so hopefully I can train the lip muscles up fast.
To those who are wanting to submit literary entries into the official contest, I have sad news for you.
I talked to Regina and asked her about it, she said that unfortunately the developers don't have time to read all written entries that would arrive, so it's not allowed.
Sorry guys :S
I'm sure I speak for many of you when I say that reading the halloween short stories was awesome, such fabulous writings from you guys!
Also, don't forget, the workshop does have a literary award
So the good news is ive more than likely got enough materials for this project ^^
My mom helped me go through some of her old magazines and in one I got probably 15 fading light/pale blue-y colours. perfect for the ice/snow in the dungeon near the chest ^^
Im thinking im going to sketch things out with my tablet or in my sketchbook. my tablet would be easier to size accuratly. And easier to submit here :3 I can work on the sketch this weekend ^^
oh, minami! Thank you so much for finding out for us <3 <3 <3 <3 I'm still going to write something for this workshop, but since we can only submit one thing to the official contest, I'll actually submit something there that has a chance XD
ok..so im not even gonna bother trying to color this damn thing in photoshop...
mouse+sneeze every 2 min (i have a cold)= $#@(^&!@#*(!!!!!
But I did darken my lines a lil bit after changing the hand position. kinda hard to see the bottom because my scanner isnt big enough for the paper I'm using (grumble). Anyone who's decent on drawing hands wanna help me out a bit? Didn't want her hand to look so manly so I'm trying to give her longer fingernails, but they end up looking like.. well, like they do in the picture. I hate drawing hands
sorry for the scanner quality..
Need to fix the right side "feather" thing on her headpiece, but anyother comments are welcome. *hides*
EDIT: In the interest of not double posting, I'll ask this now.
Are we allowed more than one entry? Just thought I'd help make it clear since Tzu didnt specify in the opening post (at least not that I saw...but I'm old and blind so its possible ). And Minami, would you mind adding that I have a progress gallery now? Put the link a couple posts back.

if my camera would stop eating batteries i'd probably be able to
i swear all my electronics are like rising up against me or something... might try taking a pic when the batteries are charged. I guess the hands to me just look too manly. Maybe because they're so "big" but its the nearest part in the pic, so they would be bigger.. gah i dont know. just doesnt look right
I don't think the hands are too big, or too manly. Drawing slightly bigger hands is always better than drawing them too small, and in this case her hands are closer to the viewer so they can be a little bigger. The only thing I'd comment is that the thumb holding the snowglobe could be a touch longer.
A good measurement trick for drawing hands is if the hand covers the character's face, then it's big enough. Try it with your own hand - how much of your face does your own hand cover? Some people have smaller hands (or bigger faces) so the measurement is very rough, but still something to try out if you're unsure about the size of the hand you drew.
@Frostkisses ~ I am not sure what you mean, the hand looks fine to me. Also I love her expression.
when I have a cold I swear by home made chicken soup (it works better if someone else makes it for you ^^), steaming my head over a bowl of hot water with lavender oil and hot lemon and honey drinks with a tot of brandy in. Probably not all at once though :P
Minami, I checked my storage, and I've got nothing exciting since I haven't played much the past few months Go ahead and put me down for 100k, and I'll update with more stuff if I end up getting some fun stuff to donate before the workshop ends.
Anyway, here's a very unexciting WiP post I put on my blog:
So basically, the way stream of consciousness works for me is that a story scene starts, and I just kinda let my muse take it where she wants to take it while I sit back and watch like a movie. Most times, I have no clue where my subconscious picks this stuff up. Yesterday, I was thinking of my story while playing GW and was just kind of thinking of an ending, and then I start hysterically crying because of where the scene took me. I literally had to get up, because tears were streaming down my face, and I had to get a tissue (I'll admit that (a) I get too involved with my characters, (b) part of the crying was probably because I've been at high stress and at the edge of breaking down this quarter, and (c) I'm just a crybaby... I still tear up at my Halloween story even though I've read it a hundred times and I wrote the thing). Anyway, since I've decided to put the ending in there, I started randomly thinking of a start and a backstory to match it.
The good news? I think I've got the main parts of my story set-up.
The bad news? Umm... it's probably going to be as long as the Halloween story instead of the short story I had originally planned...
The other good news? Since I have a tablet, I'm going to try to make some sketches to go along with the story.
The other bad news? Well, the sketches probably won't be that good since it'll be low priority...

Apparently I have tiny hands XD
And Thistle, long stories aren't a bad thing So long as it's engaging and well-written, length isn't a big deal. But I am a voracious reader and tend to go for longer things because they last me longer (every time I go to Borders, I buy three books...and finish them within the weekend).
I am going to try and actually get started on my piece this weekend; right now I'm balancing work + creating a calendar (fractals!), plus tomorrow is my little sister's birthday and the other is coming home from college...and next week is Black Friday...yeah.
